FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- St. Mary's junior guard Matt Ayoub was selected Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 26, 2018.

For the fourth straight game, St. Mary's junior guard Matt Ayoub tallied more than 20 points as he finished with a game- and career-best 30 points after shooting 11-of-17 from the field with five triples. Ayoub also added three steals and two rebounds. He currently leads the CAC with 26, 3-point field goals and 19.3 points per game while ranking fourth with a 52.0-three-point field goal percentage.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Frostburg State junior Daniel Alexander scored 61 points in three losses last week for the Bobcats. He averaged 20.3 points per game and led FSU in scoring in all three games...York junior guard Darin Gordon led the Spartans to a 78-74 overtime win over long-time nemesis Franklin & Marshall on Sunday in York's lone game of the week. Gordon poured in a game-high, and career-high, 18 points including seven of York's 11 points in overtime. Gordon was 4-for-9 from three while he added seven rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots and a steal in his 37 minutes off the bench for the Spartans. Gordon started overtime with a free throw on York's first possession followed by a three from the corner on York's ensuing possession to give York a lead they wouldn't lose in overtime. He hit another three pointer in overtime to ensure the Spartans would maintain the lead... Salisbury sophomore guard Gary Briddell helped lead Salisbury to its fourth win of the season, a come-from-behind 55-52 win against Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday. Briddell scored a game-high 16 points to go with six rebounds. Salisbury trailed by as many as eight in the second half, and stormed back to remain undefeated on the season. Briddell scored four points in the closing 30 seconds of the game as the Sea Gulls held on for the win...Christopher Newport senior guard Marcus Carter was named a tournament MVP for the second straight weekend...He led the 4-0 Captains to victories over Methodist and 20th-ranked John Carroll in the CNU Invitational...recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds vs. Methodist and 24 points and 5 boards vs. John Carroll...moved up to 11th place on the CNU all-time scoring list and now has scored 1,371 career points.
