Wesley College's Chris Osberg shot a two-day 154 to edge Steve Watts of Villa Julie by just one shot to win medalist honors in the first Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Golf Championship, held Saturday and Sunday at Piney Branch Country Club in Hampstead, Md.

Wesley posted team scores of 317 and 315 in the two rounds to win the team title with a 632, 21 strokes better than host Villa Julie (653).  York, which entered Sunday's competition in second place, just four strokes behind Wesley, fell off the pace to finish third with 664.  Marymount (714) and Hood (741) rounded out the field in the five-team tournament.

It was the 10th straight conference title for the Wolverines, who won the previous nine as members of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.

Osberg, who earned the title of 2008 CAC Player of the Year, followed up his his first round 75 with a 79 in the final round, but Watts who entered the day one shot back, also was unable to make up ground and also finished with a 79.

Wesley's Michael Rushin and Andrew Geyer each shot 78s in the second round.  Rushin finished with a 156 to place third and Geyer was fifth at 160. Sandwiched in between, placing fourth overall, was Villa Julie's Matt Lukehart was fourth with a 159.

The top five players in the tournament were awarded first-team all-conference recognition while the next five were named second-team all-conference players.   York Shane Bernard (161), Wesley's Will Scarborugh (162), York's Sean Leitzell (163), Villa Julie's Kevin Motz (165) and Wesley's Riley Powers (166) rounded out the top 10 players.

Hood's Aaron Prescott, who tied for 12th overall with a 170, was the highest finisher among fresmen and was named the 2008 CAC Rookie of the Year.  Villa Julie's Chris Ramer, who led his team to second place in the team standings while hosting the first CAC championship, was named the 2008 CAC Coach of the Year by his peers.
