Wesley's Scarborough Earns All-America Honors; Rushin Also Named To All-Mid-Atlantic Team

On the heels of a tie for third place at the NCAA Division III Golf Championships, Wesley College senior Will Scarborough was named to the PING Division III All-America First Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).  The GCAA also named its all-region teams, with senior Mike Rushin joining Scarborough on the All-Mid-Atlantic squad.

Scarborough, a local Dover High product, ended the year second on the team to Rushin with a 76.1 scoring average.  He peaked at the right time, however, picking up two of his five top 10 finishes of the year at the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championships and at the NCAAs.

His finish at the NCAAs was the best by a Wesley competitor since Chris Noll won the 2002 NCAA Championship.  He was named second team All-CAC before his run at the national championships.

Scarborough was also one of four Wolverines to earn a CAC Golfer of the Week honor, claiming the honor on October 21.  He also shot on of Wesley three sub-70 rounds, turning in a 69 in the first round at the Pine Needles Intercollegiate on February 26.

Rushin, a Bartonsville, Pennsylvania native, led the team and the CAC with a 75.2 average, one of the lowest seasons in school history.  His 37th place tie at the NCAAs was the just his second tournament of the season in which he finished outside the top 20.

A first team All-CAC pick, Rushin claimed third place at the CAC Championships.  He also tied for fifth at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Invitational and shot a 69 at Guilford on October 9 to earn CAC Golfer of the Week honors.

The duo led Wesley to a seventh place finish at the NCAA Championships and the CAC Championship, Wesley's 10th consecutive conference championship after winning nine straight in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.
