Christopher Newport Officially Offered Bid To Compete In the 2016 NCAA Golf Championship Tournament
The bid was secured two weeks ago, when Christopher Newport captured its third-straight CAC golf title. But the bid was officially announced this week that the Captains will be among 33 teams competing for the 2016 NCAA Division III title.
This is the first year the CAC has received an automatic bid for its golf champion. The Captains won the bid and the conference crown on April 17 at Bay Creek Golf Resort in Cape Charles, Va.
CNU is one of 33 teams to earn an automatic bid by winning a conference championship, and there will be eight additional teams and five individuals playing a 72-hole championship on May 10-13 at Midvale Country Club and Mendon Golf Club, in Rochester, N.Y.
