In a fall preview of the 2016 CAC Golf Championship, Christopher Newport senior Patrick Johnson and the Captains edged York by eight strokes to claim the team crown on Tuesday at the Bay Creek Invitational in Cape Charles, Va.

All five CAC full-member institutions with golf programs competed in the championship preview at Bay Creek Golf Resort. Bay Creek will host the CAC Championships for the next three years, beginning this spring from April 15-17. The 2016 CAC Championship will feature a three-round tournament for the first time ever. In addition to its five full-member institutions with golf, New Jersey City and William Paterson are associate members in the sport and will compete in the spring championship.

Led by Johnson's two-day total of four-over-par 148 (74-74), the Captains took three of the top four individual placings and totaled 619 strokes to defeat York by eight. Matt DiSalvo (+6; 150) claimed second place for CNU, while Sam Robinson (76-77) and York's Ryan Wolbach (79-74) tied for third at nine-over 153.
