Christopher Newport Extends Lead at CAC Golf Championship; Captains' Nodwell, Corlett Tied for First

Christopher Newport extended its lead to 41 strokes on the rest of the field with another solid showing on day two of the 2017 CAC Golf Championship on Saturday at Bay Creek Golf Course in Cape Charles, Va. 

The Captains totaled a day-two score of 301 for a two-day total of 17-over par 593, giving them a 41-stroke edge over second-place Mary Washington (634). UMW holds a six stroke lead over third-place York (640) entering Sunday's third and final round of the 54-hole event. Wesley and Marymount are tied for fourth at 653, while Penn State Harrisburg (671) and New Jersey City (758) round out the team scores. 

Individually, CNU holds the top three spots entering round three, including Joey Corlett and Harry Nodwell deadlocked in first place with two-day totals of two-over 146. Corlett fired a 1-under 71 on Saturday to pull even with Nodwell atop the leaderboard. David Rabil is two strokes back at 148. 

UMW's Phillip Manceri and York's Tyler Newton each sit at six-over 150 entering the final round. Newton carded a -1 under in round two to match Corlett for the top score of the day.
