The Christopher Newport due of sophomore David Rabil and senior Harry Nodwell were named to the PING / Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America squad. Rabil was one of nine first-team selections, while Nodwell landed on the third team. 

Led by Rabil and Nodwell, the Captains won their fourth consecutive CAC Championship and reached the NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship for the second straight year. 

One of the most decorated student-athletes in CNU history, Nodwell earned All-American honors this fall as a member of the men's soccer program. He then, as he has throughout his three-year tenure with the Captains, joined the golf team in the spring and capped his illustrious career with the PING/GCAA honors announced on Wednesday.

Nodwell joins an exclusive CNU club with Roland Hilliard, who became the first to do it as a member of the football team in 2006 and outdoor track & field program in 2007. The University boasts nearly 700 total All-American plaudits across 16 different sports, with over 220 athletes represented, but only Hilliard and now Nodwell can boast collecting the highest athletic achievement in multiple sports.

The golf honor was earned after a sensational swan song season that saw Nodwell break the program record for career scoring average. He set the mark at 74.63 after a career-best 74.1 in his final year. The new standard bested Joseph Evans (2008-12) record of 74.89, which previously supplanted a 10-year old record by Mike Priddy (1999-02) of 75.54. 

Despite playing in just the spring season, Nodwell ranked second on the team in top five finishes, with three in the five events played. He became the first three-time All-State selection in program history while also adding his third consecutive All-Conference finish. A first team PING All-Region pick for the second straight year, Nodwell collected All-Region honors for both men's soccer and golf in five of a possible six seasons of play. 

Prior to taking on the links, Nodwell capped a memorable career as a member of the Captains' soccer team. He moved to the back line as a senior and became the first defender to earn All-American laurels since 2011. He started 21 games and helped hold opponents to a 1.09 goals-against average. CNU picked up seven shutouts and held opponents to just eight first-half goals all season with Nodwell as the leader. Offensively, he tacked on five assists while serving as one of the top options on free kicks and corners. 

The accumulation of individual accolades is one of the most impressive for any athlete in CNU history. With the Captains, Nodwell earned first team All-Conference honors five times, while adding a sixth recognition on the second team. He earned NSCAA All-Region accolades all three years of his soccer career, picking up one third team and a pair of second team selections; he added a pair of PING All-Region nods in three years of golf. 

Perhaps most impressively, Nodwell was a pivotal piece to five conference championship teams. A starter for CNU Men's Soccer as the Captains won titles in 2014 and 2016, as well as for three straight Capital Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships, Nodwell has one of the most crowded mantles in CNU Athletics lore.
