With three individuals in the top five and all five golfers among the top 11, Mary Washington collected its first-ever CAC Men's Golf Championship on Saturday at Bay Creek Golf Course in Cape Charles, Va. The Eagles, who are in just their second year as a varsity program, totaled 925 stroke (+65) throughout the 54-hole event, cruising past the rest of the field for the team crown. 

With the victory, UMW earns the CAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The NCAA Championship will take place from May 15-18 at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. This marks just the third time in conference history that its champion earns an automatic bid to NCAA's. 

Christopher Newport, which saw its four-year streak atop the CAC come to an end, finished in second place in the eight-team field with 949 strokes. York was close behind in third with 960 strokes, followed by Marymount (1,025), Wesley (1,056), Southern Virginia (1,097), Penn State Harrisburg (1,103) and New Jersey City (1,141). 

UMW freshman Sebastien Bonte earned the individual tournament championship with a three-day total of 12-over 228 (73-77-78). Bonte becomes the third freshmen in CAC history to win the individual title, and the first UMW player to claim the honor. 

York's Tyler Newton finished in second place in the individual standings (+14, 230; 77-75-78), followed by a third-place tie between CNU's Chris Brugge (+15, 231; 74-83-74) and UMW's Phillip Manceri (+15, 231; 79-76-76). Rounding out the top five was UMW's Jason Guintu (+17, 233; 77-72-84).
