Mary Washington Takes Early Lead at 2019 CAC Men's Golf Championship in Williamsburg

The 2019 CAC Men's Golf Championship got underway on Thursday, April 18 at the Golden Horseshoe Resort's Gold Course, par 71 layout in Williamsburg, Va.

Mary Washington set the day one pace firing a round of 311 (+27) and were guided by Jason Guintu who carded a 4-over par round of 75, while his teammate Robin Yu recorded a 6-over par round of 77. Phillip Manceri also shot a 79 to aide the Eagles as UMW's No. 1 player Sebastien Bonte managed a first-round 80.

The York Spartans sit three shots back after a 314 (+30) total on Thursday thanks to a 3-over par round of 74 from Casey Leebrick who sits in a tie of the individual lead after day one. Joel Marshall and Matthew Chalupa both sit tied-for-seventh after rounds of 79. 

Christopher Newport is four shots out of the lead as the Captains put together a first day total of 315 (+31). CNU's David Rabil is first for the lead with a first-round 74. Davis Topping is tied for seventh with a first round 79.

Babson College sits fourth after a first round 316 (+32) thanks to rounds of 76 and 77 from Niko Gianelos and Riley Whitham, respectively.

Southern Virginia (+55), Penn State Harrisburg (+69) and New Jersey City (+94) round of the team standings after 18 holes of competititon. Friday begins once again at 11 a.m.
