Frostburg State Men's Lacrosse Advances to ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship; Marymount Falls in Semifinals

For the second-straight year, Frostburg State and Albright will play for the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship Title. However, this time around the game will be at Frostburg's Bobcat Stadium and FSU enters as the top seed.

Frostburg earned a spot in the title game thanks to a 14-6 defeat of fourth-seeded Richard Stockton College in the semifinals, early Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Spenser Love scored three goals, all in the first half, and junior Devin Colegrove scored twice and handed out two assists as the duo led the Bobcats (14-5) past the Ospreys (12-7) and into Sunday's rematch with Albright.

Frostburg pushed its home record to 8-1 this spring behind yet another big first half. FSU has outscored its opponents 118-57 over the first two quarters this spring and Saturday wasn't any different.

Frostburg rolled to a 9-0 halftime cushion and continued that surge by leading 13-0 after three quarters. Stockton found its momentum in the final stanza and outscored FSU 6-1 over the final 15 minutes of play.

Senior Ryan Serio returned to the Bobcat lineup after missing the last seven games due to injury by scoring the game's first goal nearly five minutes into play. Love closed out the first quarter with the final two goals and opened the second by completing his hat trick at 9:58. Colegrove scored a goal in both the first and second quarters and assisted Love's final two goals of the first quarter.

Sophomore Tate Rolland finished with two goals and one assist. He kicked off third quarter action with his second goal of the game as the Bobcat lead swelled to 10-0.

Senior faceoff specialist Billy Lark won 9-of-10 faceoffs and added five ground balls. Senior Tyler Haines stopped four shots in just 30 minutes of play.

Following Frostburg's big win over Richard Stockton, the afternoon's second semifinal game featured plenty of excitement as well. Sixth-seeded Marymount (8-8) surged out to a 6-2 halftime lead and controlled the tempo for much of the first two quarters against second-seeded Albright.

However, the second half belonged to the Lions (12-6) as they outshot the Saints, 30-12 and outscored them 9-1. Marymount held a 7-4 lead with 5:29 to play in the third quarter before Albright rattled off seven-consecutive goals for the come-from-behind victory.

It was a balanced attack for Albright as four different players finished with three points. Cam Cetrone and Ryan Turner both scored twice during the 7-0 run. James Egleston scored the game-winning goal with 8:57 left in the fourth quarter.
