Salisbury Will Host The 2015 CAC Lacrosse Championship Doubleheader Saturday, Facing Frostburg State Men, Followed By A Third-Straight Women's Title Game Battle Vs. York

The nationally-ranked Salisbury men's and women's lacrosse teams, which both won the CAC regular-season championships and top seeds in the championship tournaments, will combine to host the 2015 CAC title games Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium.

In the men's game, which begins at noon, the 8th-ranked Sea Gulls (14-4) will battle the 19th-ranked Frostburg State Bobcats (16-2).  SU is the defending champion and has won the title three of the last four years (and 18 titles since joining the CAC in 1995).  The Sea Gulls had 11 players named to the All-CAC team this week, led by senior defender Knute Kraus, who was selected by the coaches as the 2015 Player of the Year.  FSU, in just its fifth season under two-time CAC Coach of the Year Tommy Pearce, finished second in the regular season and is making its first CAC Championship game appearance.  The Bobcats had eight players join Pearce in gaining CAC post-season recognition this season.  During the regular season, Salisbury handed FSU its first loss of the season with an 8-7 overtime win in Frostburg.

At 3:30 p.m., Salisbury will try to secure its 13th-straight CAC title, and 15th since 2000, when the 8th-ranked Gulls (13-3) meet 13th-ranked York (13-4).  This will be the fourth-straight year the Sea Gulls and Spartans meet for the CAC title, with SU posting wins of 17-5 (2012), 13-5 (2013) and 13-6 (2014) in previous championship showdowns.  Salisbury, which enters the game riding a two-game win streak, downed York during the regular season by a 10-7 margin.  York enters the game with a five-match win streak.

The winners of both games earn automatic bids to their respective 2015 NCAA Tournaments.
