Three CAC Men's Lacrosse Teams Advance to NCAA Sweet 16 for First Time in Conference History

For the first time in CAC history, three men's lacrosse teams are headed to the NCAA Sweet 16 as Salisbury, York and Christopher Newport each earned second round victories on Tuesday. 

Salisbury defeated Morrisville State 19-5 at Sea Gull Stadium, led by three goals and three assists from Josh Melton, four goals from Garrett Reynolds and three goals and one assist from Griffin Moroney

The Sea Gulls (17-3) will take on Christopher Newport (15-4) in the Saturday's third round. The Captains went on the road and defeated Roanoke 17-11 for the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory. Matthew Crist led the way for CNU, registering three goals and three assists, while Lucas Berry also notched six points with five goals and one helper. 

York downed Western New England 15-7 at Kinsley Field, powered by by a balanced scoring attack headlined by Jake Hvazda's three goals and one assist. Hunter Davis and Thomas Pfeiffer added two goals and one assist apiece, while J.D. Beck led the defense with six caused turnovers and six ground balls. 

The Spartans (18-2) will meet Amherst (15-3) in Saturday's round of 16. Amherst defeated Keene State 24-7 in Wednesday's second round.
