York and Salisbury Earn CAC Men's Lacrosse Semifinal Victories

Top-seeded York and second-seeded Salisbury each posted convincing victories in the semifinals of the CAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Tuesday, setting up a championship game rematch for Saturday in York, Pa. This marks the third straight season and fourth time in the last five years the Spartans and Sea Gulls will meet for the CAC crown. 

In York, Pa., York downed fourth-seeded Frostburg State 16-8 to advance to the CAC Championship for the third straight season and fifth time in program history. Thomas Pfeiffer (2g, 4a) and Matt Whitcher (4g, 1a) led the Spartans (17-1) attack while Billy Sasso won 16-of-24 faceoffs and Landry Marshall made 11 stops in net. The Bobcats fell to 10-9 with the loss.  

In Salisbury, Md., Salisbury cruised to a 14-3 victory over third-seeded Christopher Newport, sending the Sea Gulls (15-3) to the CAC Championship for the 20th consecutive season. SU was led by Josh Melton's four goals and two assists and Pierre Armstrong's two goals and three assists, while Brandon Warren made 10 saves in goal. 

Game time for Saturday's championship game is 6 p.m.
