Salisbury's Tucker Selected as USILA National Defensive Player of the Year; 16 from CAC Earn All-America Honors
Salisbury senior defender Kyle Tucker was selected as the National Defensive Player of the Year to highlight 16 selections from the CAC onto the 2018 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America team.
York led the way with seven All-America nods, followed closely by Salisbury with six. Christopher Newport placed two on the team, while Frostburg State earned one spot on the all-star squad.
Salisbury's Tucker was chosen as the William C. Stiles Memorial Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. Tucker was joined on the All-America first team by fellow defender Will Nowesnick. SU midfielder Corey Gwin and short-stick midfielder Troy Miller collected second-team accolades, while midfielder Garrett Reynolds and long-stick midfielder Cory Berry received honorable mention nods for the Sea Gulls.
York earned a conference-leading seven spots on the USILA All-America squad, including a trio of first team honors. Attacker Thomas Pfeiffer, midfielder Matt Whitcher and defender Joey Fiorino represented the Spartans on the first team. Midfielder Dillon Hannah collected second team honors, defender J.D. Beck picked up third team recognition, and face-off specialist Billy Sasso and goalkeeper Landry Marshall grabbed honorable mention nods for York.
The Christopher Newport duo of attacker Matthew Crist and face-off specialist Tony Cruz received honored mention honors for the Captains.
Frostburg State was represented by midfielder Adam Gross on the honorable mention list.
