Salisbury, CNU & Frostburg Advance in CAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament Action

Salisbury, Christopher Newport and Frostburg State claimed victories on Saturday (April 27) in the first round of the 2019 CAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament. York, the league's No. 1 seed, will play host to No. 5 Frostburg State with No. 2 Salisbury welcoming No. 3 Christopher Newport on Wednesday (May 1) for the semifinal matches.

Salisbury defeated Southern Virginia by a 27-9 tally as the Sea Gulls advanced thanks to a decisive 12-0 run in the fourth period to put the game out of reach. Corey Gwin recorded a game-high five goals and one assist in the win.

Christopher Newport held serve in a 20-6 victory over No. 6 Mary Washington as the Captains jumped all over the Eagles in the first half, 15-2. Dylan Rice paced CNU with a game-high four goals and two assists as the Captains forced 33 turnovers.

Frostburg State led throughout the contest but had to hold on late to defeat St. Mary's by a 12-10 final. FSU had four players score twice in the contest, including Michael Sipes and Paul Ruppert who each added a pair of assists in the win.

The CAC Championship is set for Saturday, May 4, with the conference champion earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Game 4 - #1 York (Pa.) vs. #5 Frostburg State (at York)
Game 5 - #2 Salisbury vs. #3 Christopher Newport (at Salisbury)

Championship - Saturday, May 4
Game 5 - Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5 (at highest remaining seed)
