FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Salisbury senior midfielder Corey Gwin & St. Mary's senior goalkeeper Ross Snodderly earned CAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week awards for March 4, 2019.

Offensive Player of the Week

Salisbury senior midfielder Corey Gwin totaled game and career-high's in the Salisbury's 18-9 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University. Gwin netted a team-best seven goals while totaling nine points in the win, both of which are game and career-high mark for the senior midfielder. He netted five of the seven markers in the opening half including all three of the Sea Gulls' second quarter goals. He currently leads the team 17 goals and 23 total points while those numbers are both second in the CAC. Gwin earns CAC Player of the Week honors for the third time this season.

St. Mary's senior goalkeper Ross Snodderly led the Seahawks to a 2-0 record with victories over Eastern and Catholic. Snodderly allowed an average of five goals on the week and accumulated a 73.7 save percentage. He gathered 28 saves in between the pipes.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Salisbury's Brett Malamphy turned in a dominant performance during Salisbury's 18-9 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University. Malamphy won 21-of-25 faceoffs (.840) in the win including going a perfect 12-of-12 in the first half and 17-of-17 in the opening half. Four of the Sea Gulls first nine goals came a minute or less after a faceoff from Malamphy helping the team build a 9-2 lead after the first frame. The 21 wins are a career-high for Malamphy as are his team-best 14 groundballs...Christopher Newport's Scott McAneney led the Captains to a 17-3 victory over No. 12 Roanoke on Wednesday. During the contest, he registered 18 saves and allowed just a single goal before exiting the game with a comfortable lead in the fourth quarter. His 18 saves equaled the fifth-highest single-game total in program history. It also marked his fourth consecutive double-digit save effort, tying the longest streak to open a season in school history. On Saturday, he wrapped up his week by matching his career-high with five ground balls while adding seven saves in 50 minutes of work against Ursinus. In addition to his 25 saves during the week, he also led the Captains with nine total ground balls while adding two caused turnovers....Frostburg State's Jason Clinton registered four goals and three assists as the Frostburg men's lacrosse team opened the season with a win and a loss ... In a win over Lebanon Valley, Clinton opened the season with two goals and two assists...St. Mary's Jude Brown led the Seahawks to a 2-0 record on the week with victories over Eastern and Catholic. Brown tallied 10 points off of four goals and six assists. The first year attackman picked up four ground balls and caused one turnover...York's Billy Sasso led the Spartans to a dramatic 12-11 win over #16 Lynchburg on Saturday in York. Sasso, the Spartans' face off man, won 16-of-25 at the X as he also scooped up 13 ground balls for the Spartans. Sasso also scored his first goal of the season in the first quarter for the Green and White. For the season, Sasso is winning 65% of his face off attempts while he also leads the squad with 34 ground balls in four games for the Green and White...Mary Washington's Shane McKenzie led Mary Washington to a big win over Berry College, 12-11 in overtime, on Saturday, scoring a goal and adding seven assists, one shy of the school record. He broke the season assist record a year ago, and has 16 through five games...Southern Virginia's Zach Danneman led the Knights with three goals while shooting 60 percent on goal. He tallied five ground balls and added an assist in the loss at Stockton...Mary Washington's Robert Tata provided 10 ground balls and three caused turnovers as Mary Washington defeated Berry, 12-11 in overtime on Saturday.
