Salisbury Advances to NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Semifinal; York Falls in OT

Salisbury advanced to the 2019 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament Semifinals following a dominant 19-10 victory over Denison on Wednesday (May 15). The Sea Gulls advance to Sunday's (May 19) final four matchup when they will host Cabrini, who defeated York in overtime, 11-10.

The Sea Gulls trailed 2-0 early on the in contest before taking a 5-4 lead after one. Salisbury then scored six unanswered goals to start the second quarter to ultimately take a 12-5 into the break. SU would never relinquish the lead from there and cruised to the 19-10 victory.

Cross Ferrera led Salisbury with five goals and one assist on 12 shots, including seven on net. Corey Gwin added four goals and eight shots on target, while Josh Melton added a hat trick and an assist in the win.

CAC Player of the Year Brett Malamphy went 19-for-23 on faceoffs with 11 ground balls and propelled Salisbury to a 46-22 ground balls advantage along with a 55-22 edge in shots. 

In the other national quarterfinal contest, York held a 7-4 edge after three quarters of action before Cabrini battled back to force the contest into overtime. Mike Gerzabek ended the contest with 2:18 left in OT to eliminate York from the tournament. 

York's Hunter Davis, Thomas Pfeiffer and Brendan McGrath each scored twice in the contest, as the Spartans finish their season with a 19-3 record.
