Salisbury & York Advance to NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament Quarterfinals

Salisbury and York earned third round victories and have advanced to the 2019 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament Quarterfinals on Wednesday (May 15). Salisbury defeated Lynchburg by an 18-10 margin, while York outlasted Washington & Lee, 14-12.

The Sea Gulls and Spartans will now play in the quarterfinal round when Salisbury will host Denison, while York will host Cabrini.

Salisbury's Zach Pompea finished the game as the Sea Gulls' (21-1) points leader, as the senior midfielder totaled five points behind a two-goal and team-high three assist performance. The defense was equally as impressive led by goalie Brandon Warren, who finished the game with 10 saves. Kevin Murphy led the defensive unit with three caused turnovers while Jackson Woodward and Brad Greik combined for seven groundballs.

York was guided by Hunter Davis who posted four goals and four ground balls, while Billy Sasso went 17-for-29 at the X with 11 ground balls. The Spartans earned a 32-23 advantage on ground balls. York stretched its lead to 13-8 in the fourth before holding on for the 14-12 victory.
