Hood's Shane McCarrick Earns Academic All-District Honors

FREDERICK, MD - Senior Shane McCarrick of the Hood College men's soccer team was named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II First Team, as announced by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

McCarrick, a political science major from Myersville, Md., is the only member of the Capital Athletic Conference selected to the all-district team. A founding member and four-year co-captain of the men's soccer program, he lists fifth all-time in points with 17 on seven goals and three assists. A presidential scholar and member of the honors program at Hood, McCarrick has aspirations to attend law school upon graduation.

McCarrick was named to the all-district second team as a junior, but this year, as a first-team honoree, he will advance on to the national ballot.

Student-athletes selected to the Academic All-District teams must have achieved at least sophomore academic standing, maintained a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA and be a significant contributor to their team.
