CAC Gets Two Teams -- Salisbury And York -- In 2008 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament

NOTE: This story updated at 12:30 p.m. Monday with change in first-round opponent for Salisbury.

For the second-straight year, two teams from the Capital Athletic Conference -- Salisbury and York -- have been selected to compete in the 2008 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.

Salisbury (15-3-3), which won its second-straight CAC crown Saturday with a 3-0 decision over Wesley, will travel to Swarthmore, Pa., Saturday to face Dickinson (12-3-3) in opening-round action.  The Sea Gulls are undefeated (7-0-2) in their last nine matches.

If the Gulls win, they'll be back in action Sunday against either host Swarthmore (15-2-2) or Rutgers-Camden (16-4-2).  Game times for the four-team regional event are TBA.

In the original bracket announcement, Swarthmore and Dickinson were paired in the first round.  However, the NCAA committee made the change because both Swarthmore and Dickinson are members of the same conference (Centennial).

York, meanwhile, will make its fourth-straight appearance in the national championship tournament with a bye in the opening round.  On Sunday (11/16), the Spartans (18-0-1) will host the winner of Thursday's (11/13) first-round clash pitting Johns Hopkins (12-5-3) at Ithaca (11-4-3).

Montclair State (20-0-0), Hobart (16-0-3) and Trinity, Texas (18-0-1) join York as the only undefeated teams in the country.  The Spartans' lone blemish was a scoreless draw vs. Wesley in the CAC Tournament semifinals, when the visiting Wolverines were outshot 40-3 but advanced to the conference championship game by a 3-0 margin in a shootout.

The 58 teams in the national championship tournament are vying for one of the four berths in the national semifinals, to be played Dec. 5 at Greensboro, N.C.
