Salisbury And York Gain NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Tournament Bids

York edged Salisbury by a 1-0 count Saturday to win its third-straight CAC men's soccer title.  Monday, both teams were rewarded for outstanding seasons with invitations to the 2011 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

York, the CAC playoff champ, will travel to Newport News, Va., to challenge DeSales University in Saturday's first-round action.  If the Spartans win, they'll face either CNU or Randolph College Sunday in the second round.

Salisbury, the CAC regular-season champ, gained an "at-large" bid to the NCAA Tournament will host Neumann College Thursday in a first-round match. 

SU (13-3-3) not only got into the field of 61, but the Sea Gulls will host a first-round match against Neumann College on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the SU Soccer Complex. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. The Sea Gulls are making their 10th NCAA tournament appearance and first since 2009.

Neumann (13-4-0) is making its second consecutive NCAA tournament trip after winning the Colonial States Athletic Conference with a 2-1 victory over Marywood University.

The winner will travel to face No. 2-ranked and eight-time NCAA champion Messiah College (18-0-1) Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m.

Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio, Texas will host the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Soccer Championships, Dec. 2-3.
