Salisbury And York Both Post Shutout Victories In NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament Action

Salisbury broke loose with three goals in five minutes midway through the first half while York needed an overtime goal to continue its season, but both the Sea Gulls and Spartans won their first-round NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament matches Saturday.

Four Sea Gulls recorded goals, as the No. 15 Salisbury University men's soccer team advanced past Greensboro College, 4-0, Saturday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA men's soccer tournament.  The Gulls advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament on Sunday, Nov. 17, at the SU Soccer Complex against defending NCAA champion Messiah, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

York (18-2-1) continued its CAC success with a 1-0 overtime victory over Mount St. Mary (N.Y.) (12-5-3).   A minute into the first overtime period, the Spartans finally broke the scoreless draw as Jake Hower saw an opportunity in front of the goal.  The senior lofted the ball to classmate, Tobi Iguade, who took the pass and headed it into the net for his fourth goal of the year.  York advances to the second round of the NCAA tournament on Sunday, November 17.  YCP will play regional tournament host Stevens Institute of Technology at 5 pm, in Hoboken, N.J.
