Panuccio's PK Propels Penn State Harrisburg Past Cabrini in OT, Lions Advance to ECAC Men's Soccer Semifinals

After nearly 100 minutes of scoreless play, Penn State Harrisburg's Alex Panuccio drew a foul in the box late in the first overtime and buried the ensuing penalty kick to lift the top-seeded Lions past eight-seeded Cabrini in the first round of the ECAC South Men's Soccer Tournament ata Hershey Park Stadium on Wednesday evening.

With the victory, Penn State Harrisburg moves on to the semifinals on Saturday, and will meet either No. 4 Alvernia or No. 5 Swarthmore.

The Lions, who advanced to the CAC Championship game before falling 3-1 to Christopher Newport last Saturday, improved to 14-4-1 with the victory, while Cabrini ends its year at 13-8.

With the game nearing the second overtime, Panuccio beat two defenders and made his way into the box, before being taken down to earn the penalty kick. He then stepped up and buried a shot into the upper left corner for the game-winner with just 1:34 remaining in the first overtime period.

PSH goalkeeper Brandon Hoover made several key saves throughout to keep the Cavaliers scoreless, tallying four saves throughout the contest.

Harrisburg outshot the Cavalier's 16-8 and also held the corner kick advantage, 10-3.
