Salisbury Men's Soccer Bows Out of NCAA Tournament with 2-1 Defeat to Tufts; DiBartolo's 34-Year Coaching Career Comes to a Close

Salisbury's 2015 season came to a close on Saturday night as the Sea Gulls dropped a 2-1 decision to Tufts in Montclair, N.J. The loss concludes the 34-year coaching career of SU head coach Gerry DiBartolo, who earlier in the year announced that this season would be his last on the sidelines.

The CAC Champion Sea Gulls conclude the year with a 13-4-3 overall record following Saturday's loss to defending-national-champion Tufts (10-4-3).

Salisbury took the lead early on, as Leslie Umunna slid a pass to Dennis Runikera in the box, and Runikera one-touched a short-range shot to the left side of the net for a 1-0 SU edge in the 8th minute.

The Jumbos tied things up in the 24th minute on a tally from Daniel Sullivan, while Connor Brown knocked home the eventual game-winner in the 62nd minute for Tufts.

Salisbury goalkeeper Drew Staedeli posted eight saves in the loss.

Tufts will meet Montclair State, a 3-2 winner over Daniel Webster, in Sunday's second round.
