Frostburg State and York Grab Road Victories in CAC Men's Soccer First Round
Both road teams picked up victories in the first round of the CAC men's soccer postseason on Saturday, as fifth-seeded Frostburg State and sixth-seeded York advanced to the semifinals with wins away from home.
Frostburg State topped fourth-seeded Penn State Harrisburg 3-2 in a wild contest that witnessed three goals within a minute span late in the second half. The Bobcats (9-9-1) outlasted the Lions (11-8) on an own goal, a goal and an assist from Carvell Akuffo, and a tally from Mukor Harris. Alex Panuccio scored twice for the Lions in the defeat.
With the win, Frostburg State will travel to top-seeded Christopher Newport (15-2-1) for Tuesday's semifinals in Newport News, Va. Game time is still TBD.
In a rematch of last year's CAC semifinals, York (8-8-2) avenged last season's defeat with a 1-0 triumph at third-seeded St. Mary's (12-4-2). The Spartans received the game's lone goal from Nathan Bilbie in the 88th minute off an assist from Barak Amige.
