Christopher Newport & Mary Washington to Battle for CAC Men's Soccer Championship

The 2019 CAC Men's Soccer Tournament Championship matchup is finalized and will feature #1 Christopher Newport hosting #2 Mary Washington on Saturday, Nov. 9th at 6 p.m. in Newport News. 

Top seed Christopher Newport took care of their home field and controlled #4 York for the full 90 minutes en route to a 3-0 shutouts and a spot in the title match. The Captains struck in the 14th minute when Cory Hogge connected on a set piece from 20 yards to give CNU a 1-0 edge. Sam Dickinson stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 70th minute on a give-and-go flick into the box before Lincoln Kickbush added a score late to put the contest away.

The second seed Mary Washington defeated #3 St. Mary's thanks to three second-half tallies after the Eagles fell behind 1-0 in the 41st minute on a Jacob Breslauer rebound putback to give SMC a 1-0 lead at the half. UMW then scored two Gabriel Soriano penalty kick goals, while Josh Kirkland added another to lift the Eagles to the conference title bout. 

Mary Washington is looking for its third straight CAC championship and 11th overall. CNU will attempt to capture its second league crown with its lone title coming back in 2014.

Game 5: #1 Christopher Newport vs. #2 Mary Washington, 6 PM
