CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards following the ninth week of the 2019 men's soccer season. St. Mary's junior forward Roshawn Panton earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Christopher Newport senior goalkeeper Justin Piercy claimed CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this year.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Roshawn Panton - St. Mary's (Md.)

St. Mary's junior forward Roshawn Panton led the Seahawks with four points and two goals on the week. The junior forward recorded the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over York and tallied another goal in a 2-2 draw against Mary Washington. The Bowie, Maryland native now has nine goals and 20 points on the season. Both marks are good for third in the CAC.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Justin Piercy - Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport senior goalkeeper Justin Piercy led CNU to a pair of shutout victories in conference play to clinch the regular season conference title. Made game-saving diving stop on a hard shot with less than ten minutes to go against York. Picked up the solo shutout with three saves against the Spartans and added one save in 73 minutes against Southern Virginia

LEAGUE NOTES

York has played six consecutive 1-0 games as they are 3-3 in those six games...Salisbury senior defender Alex Eiben paced the Sea Gull defense in only allowing seven shots, three of which were on goal, in a 2-0 win on Saturday over Southern Virginia...Salisbury freshman forward George Fotiou netted the opening goal of the Sea Gulls' 2-0 win on Saturday over Southern Virginia....Gabriel Soriano provided an assist in Mary Washington's 2-0 win over Salisbury on Wednesday, and added the tying goal in the final minutes of a 2-2 tie with St. Mary's on Saturday...Michael Wilson scored both game-winning goals as Christopher Newport clinched the regular season conference title. Notched the winner in the first ten minutes of both games. Took five shots, putting four on frame.
