FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- York freshman Keven Stahl received CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week honors for Oct. 31, 2017.

York freshman Keven Stahl received CAC Athlete of the Week honors after breaking three Salisbury pool records in his collegiate debut for the Spartans. Stahl set new SU pool marks in the 800 freestyle, 400 freestyle, and 200 butterfly, helping the Spartans secure a 171-91 CAC victory. He began the day with a convincing win the 800 freestyle, besting the second-place finisher by nearly 38 seconds with a time of 8:28.97. Stahl then cruised to a win in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.90, beating fellow Spartan freshman Kaelan Dowdall by just under seven seconds. He closed out his day with a win in the 400 freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 4:06.09. That time was good enough to win by over 14 seconds. Stahl's 200 fly time ranks atop the CAC and 15th in Division III.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All six CAC men's swimming squads have opened their 2017-18 campaigns ... In CAC action last week, York downed Salisbury 171-91, Marymount defeated St. Mary's 115-88, and Mary Washington topped Frostburg State 175-87 ... Frostburg State senior Christian March has kicked off his senior campaign with wins in all 12 individual events through four meets. He has won nine different individual events and has collected two relay wins ... Mary Washington sophomore Austin Farrar turned in a winning weekend as UMW defeated Frostburg State, Ferrum, Roanoke, and Barton. On Friday at Frostburg, he won the 200 meter freestyle at 2:02.46 and the 400 meter freestyle at 4:25.60. He was anchor on the winning 200 meter free relay, which won at 1:41.63. On Saturday, Farrar won the 1000 yard freestyle at 10:18.10, as well as the 400 IM at 4:24.34 ... Marymount junior Isaiah Jones collected two top individual finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle on Saturday in a 115-88 season-opening victory over St. Mary's, while he also was a part of the 200-yard free relay victory to open the meet ... St. Mary's freshman Andrew Scott won two races in his college debut which were the 200 freestyle (1:49.50) and the 500 freestyle (4:57.27) ... Salisbury sophomore Josh Brown earned first-place finishes against York on Saturday in the 100-meter breaststroke, recording a time of 1:08.19, and the 50-meter freestyle, with a time of 24.56 seconds ... York freshman Keven Stahl owns the top time in the CAC in the 500 freestyle, the 200 fly, and the 1,000 free. His 1,000 free time is 21.36 in front of the next best swimmer. Stahl is tied with teammate Jesse Tate for the team lead in victories so far in the 2017-18 season with three.
