St. Mary’s junior KENNY NUGENT (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) was named the CAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after picking up singles wins in matches against Salisbury and Hood, helping him tie the team’s single-season mark for victory with a 15-5 overall record.

York senior TIM MOWRER (Gordonville, Pa./Pequea Valley) was named the CAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Spartans to victories over CAC rivals Hood and Wesley. In the win over Hood, Mowrer combined with Colin Jones to notch a 8-6 win in the first doubles match. He followed that with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Carter Reitman in the first singles match. Against Wesley, Mowrer recorded a 6-1, 6-1 first singles win over Mickey DeSouza. For the season, Mowrer is 11-4 at first singles and 8-6 in doubles play.

Mary Washington senior JOHN JAMES (Mt. Kisko, N.Y./Fox Lane) was named the CAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after helping the Eagles defeat Salisbury in the showdown of the top two teams in the CAC with a straight-sets win at No. 1 singles. The 6-3, 7-6 decision was James’ 85th career singles win, breaking the team record of 84 career wins by All-American Paul Bristow in 2003-06.

Wesley senior ANDREW SMYTH (Delran, N.J./Delran) and York junior STEVE COLLISON (Westville, N.J./Woodbury) were named the CAC Men’s Tennis Co-Players of the Week. Smith captured the #4 singles and #2 doubles points in Wesley’s 5-4 setback to NCAA Division I Maryland-Eastern Shore. Collison went 2-1 in both #4 singles and #3 doubles last week for York, helping the Spartans improve to 4-7 for the season.

Mary Washington senior RANDY LODEN (Richmond, Va./Godwin) was named the CAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second-straight week after going undefeated in three matches at one doubles and also at one and two singles. In Wednesday’s 5-2 loss at Division I Longwood University, Loden teamed with Kaz Murata to win at No. 1 doubles, 9-7. He then won at one singles, 7-6, 2-6, 12-10. In Saturday’s 7-2 win over Swarthmore, Loden again won at one doubles with Murata, 8-5, before winning at two singles, 6-1, 6-3. He capped the week with a doubles win over Haverford, 9-8, before winning 6-0, 6-1 at two singles.

Salisbury freshman DANIEL BARNAS (La Plata, Md./La Plata) and York sophomore TRAVIS KLEIN (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) were named the CAC Men’s Tennis Co-Players of the Week after winning four matches for their respective teams last week. Playing at No. 4 singles, Barnas needed three sets to win his match against NYU and straight sets in a victory against North Carolina Wesleyan. In doubles play, Barnas paired with Andrew Nottage for 8-3 (NYU) and 8-4 (NCW) victories in the No. 2 position. He helped the 22nd-ranked Sea Gulls to a 1-1 team record last week. Klein went 4-1 at No. 6 singles during the Spartans’ spring trip to Hilton Head, S.C. All four of Klein’s wins were in straight sets, and his only loss was to a player from NCAA Division II Kutztown.

Salisbury junior EVAN THOMAS (Salisbury, Md./Faith Baptist) was named the CAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after winning all four of his matches last week. Thomas won twice at No. 2 singles and paired with Scott Burtzlaff to win a pair of matches at No. 1 doubles. Thomas provided half of Salisbury’s team points in a loss to Washington & Lee and helped the Sea Gulls run away for a victory against Hampden-Sydney.
