Salisbury's Brendan Kincaid Selected For ITA Assistant Coach Of The Year Award

After a stellar career as a Salisbury University student-athlete, Brendan Kincaid made his way from the court to the sideline as an assistant coach for the men's and women's tennis teams. On Friday, his hard work was recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as he was named both the National Assistant Coach of the Year as well as Atlantic South Region Coach of the Year.

Mary Washington freshman SAM WICHLIN (Ellicott City, Md./Ellicott City) and Stevenson sophomore TED COOKE (Snow Hill, Md./Snow Hill) were named the CAC Men’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week after going undefeated in singles play and recording a key weekend win, leading their teams to victories.

Mary Washington freshman SAM WICHLIN (Ellicott City, Md./Ellicott City) was named the CAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after posting a 4-0 record at No. 1 singles, including a straight-sets victory in UMW’s 7-2 victory over 14th-ranked Salisbury, two other CAC triumphs and a three-set win at perennial powerhouse Swarthmore. Wichlin also helped the Eagles clinch the top seed in the CAC playoffs with a shutout victory at #3 doubles against Hood.

Salisbury senior SCOTT BURTZLAFF (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) was named the CAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after leading the 14th-ranked Sea Gulls to a victory over 23rd-ranked Hampden-Sydney. Burtzlaff registered a straight-sets win at No. 1 singles, then paired with Evan Thomas for a tough 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles.

Salisbury sophomore DANIEL BARNAS (La Plata, Md./La Plata) was named the CAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after leading the 21st-ranked Sea Gulls to five wins last week. He scored two team points as the Gulls upset 13th-ranked Kalamazoo and contributed to wins over Stevenson and Christopher Newport.

York junior RYAN HARVEY (Fallston, Md./Fallston) was named the CAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after winning all four matches in sixth singles and two of four matches in doubles play to lead the Spartans to a 2-2 record last week. He scored two team points in YCP’s victory at Wesley.
