Southern Virginia Blanks York 5-0 in CAC Men's Tennis First Round

Fourth-seeded Southern Virginia advanced to the Capital Athletic Conference men's tennis semifinals after sweeping fifth-seeded York 5-0 on Saturday in Buena Vista, Va. 

The Knights will head to No. 1 Mary Washington on Wednesday for the CAC semifinals. No. 2 Christopher Newport will host No. 3 Salisbury in the other semifinal matchup, with the winners set to meet Saturday in the championship. 

In doubles the Southern Virginia No. 3 team of Zac Bowers and TJ Snelson were the first off the court, winning seven straight games to take down their opponents 8-1. No. 2 doubles Ben Spencer and Paul Monson soon followed with an 8-0 sweep.

No. 1 doubles was last to finish as Tanner O'Brien and Andrew Blonquist were aggressive at the net and found two breaks in the match to win 8-4 and give the Knights a 3-0 lead.

Tanner O'Brien, the Knights No. 3 singles player, stormed off to break his opponent early on and defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-2.

No. 6 Zac Bowers clinched the match for the Knights with a 6-1, 6-3 win against his opponent.
