Christopher Newport's Cerny & Reed Selected to NCAA Men's Tennis Doubles Championship

Christopher Newport's Cerny & Reed Selected to NCAA Men's Tennis Doubles Championship

For the second season in a row, the Captains top tandem of Justin Cerny and David Reed have been selected to participate in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Doubles Championship. The CNU seniors are one of 16 doubles teams to compete in the individual national championships, which will be held at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Southern California from May 24-26.

The national committee selected three doubles teams from each of the four regions before adding four doubles team berths from a national at-large pool to round out the 16-team bracket. The selection of teams and individuals for the championships is based on win-loss record, strength of schedule, and eligibility and availability of student-athletes.

Cerny and Reed have combined for 14 wins in pairs play this season, including a win streak of six to finish out their swan song season. In their four year careers, the two have combined for 56 victories in doubles action.

The draw for the individual championship will be done by the men's tennis committee and will be released on May 23, the final day of the team championship.
