Mary Washington Tops Christopher Newport for 24th CAC Men's Tennis Championship

The 15th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team captured the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference Championship with a 5-0 victory over Christopher Newport University on Saturday at the Battleground. The championship is the 24th in program history, including the 18th in 19 years.

The Eagles claimed all three doubles points, as Matt Miles and Moses Hutchison claimed a decision at one, Ryland Byrdand Derek Hagino won at two, and Patrick Hughes and Michael Fleming won at three.

In singles action, the Eagles scored wins from Cole Tecce at six and Hutchison at three for the clincher.

UMW is 22-4 on the season, and will await their place in the NCAA Tournament which begins next week. Announcements for the bracket will take place on Monday evening on NCAA.com.
