Hood Senior Ola Komolafe Named To Capital One Academic All-District Two Team

Recent Hood College graduate and four-time all-conference sprinter Ola Komolafe earned a spot on the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District II Second Team, following a vote by the region's sports information directors.

Komolafe, from Lanham, Md., garnered this honor for his outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments. To be considered for this award, a student-athlete must be a significant contributor to his/her team and maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average during the 2010-11 academic year.

Komolafe was lauded as Hood's senior male scholar-athlete of the year, awarded to the senior male student-athlete with the highest GPA, as well as the co-most outstanding male student-athlete, given to a male student-athlete who has demonstrated exemplary athletic prowess.

The school record holder in three individual events and two relay events during his four-year Blazer career, Komolafe posted a pair of runner-up finishes at the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference championships in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. He owns the program standards in both of those events, in addition to the 100-meter dash, and was a member of the record-setting 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. He captured 11 individual titles and was part of two first-place relay squads in the blue-and-grey.

Off the track, Komolafe earned a bachelor of science degree in computer science last month and was a member of the Dean's List, the Chi Alpha Sigma national student-athlete honor society and the CAC all-academic team. He also completed a Hood departmental honors project on wireless sensor network security.

Komolafe was the only male track and field student-athlete from the CAC to earn this distinction. For the complete list of male track and field all-district honorees, click here.
