Wesley's Matt Bundy Is NCAA Bound in 110m Hurdles With Top Performance In ECAC Championships
Sprinter Matt Bundy won the 110m hurdles at the 2012 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic institute on Friday afternoon. His time of 14.52 shattered his own school-record of 14.80 by 28 hundredths of a second and should advance him to the NCAA Division III Championships on May 24-26 at Burns Stadium in Claremont, CA.
A sophomore from Media, Pa., Bundy also qualified for the NCAA Tournament in the 60m hurdles during the indoor season this past winter. He was the only male athlete in the Capital Athletic Conference to qualify for Nationals in the indoor season.
The 2012 CAC Track Athlete of the Year, Bundy now owns Wesley outdoor school-records in the 110m hurdles and 200m Dash (21.61) and indoor records in the 55m hurdles (8.03), 60m hurdles (8.25) and 200m Dash (22.43).
Frostburg State freshman Chris
Rickell grabbed 10th place in the high jump to
accent the Frostburg State men's track & field team at the 2012
ECAC Outdoor Championships, Thursday and Friday.
Rickell cleared 1.84 meters to finish in a tie for 10th place to
pace the Bobcats at the championships.
The 4x100-meter relay team of senior Markese
Hayden and juniors Xzavier
Robertson, Chauncey
Manson and Yvon Raymond
earned 10th place in a season best 42.81. It was the first action
for Hayden in the 100 meters this year.
On Thursday, Hayden teamed with junior Miguel
Montano, sophomore Eric
Williams and freshman Devin
Francillon for a 23rd-place finish in the
4x400-meter relay in 3:26.40.
Individually, Manson earned 17th in the 200-meter dash in 22.71
while Robertson was 12th in the 100-meter dash preliminaries in
11.03. His time landed him in third place in the fourth heat,
however, he missed the finals on Friday.
