Nine To Represent Frostburg State at ECAC Track & Field Championships

Nine student-athletes will represent the Frostburg State University men's track & field teams at the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships this coming Thursday and Friday. This year's ECAC meet will be hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, N.Y.

The two-day championship meet will start Thursday with the Decathlon at 1:00 pm. The 4x800-meter relay will cap the events on Friday afternoon at 3:35 pm.

The Bobcats will open the championships with the sprints on Thursday as senior Patrick Pinchinat and junior Xzavier Robertson are part of a talented group of sprinters that should compete for All-ECAC honors.

Pinchinat and Robertson will compete in the 100-meter dash trials at 5:10 pm on Thursday afternoon. Pinchinat has hit an ECAC mark in the 100 in all three outdoor meets with a season best time of 10.86 at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships.

Robertson earned a spot at the ECAC's this past Friday when he posted career best 10.94 in the 100 at the Gator Invitational at Allegheny College.

Pinchinat and junior Chauncey Manson will compete in the 200-meter dash at 3:05 pm on Friday afternoon. Pinchinat has qualified for the ECAC's twice in the 200 this spring, with a season best 21.79 at the CAC Championships.

Manson has eclipsed the ECAC mark of 22.30 in seven meets this season, including the last three. He has two wins in the 200 this season and posted a season best 21.82 at the CAC Championships.

The trio of Pinchinat, Robertson and Manson will join junior Yvon Raymond for the 4x100-meter relay at 12:15 pm on Friday afternoon. The foursome has three wins and has hit the ECAC mark four times this spring. The group posted a season best 42.17 at the Gator Invitational at Allegheny College last Friday.

The Bobcats will also have a team in the 4x400-meter relay on Thursday night at 6:25 consisting of senior Markese Hayden, junior Miguel Montano, sophomore Eric Williams and freshman Devin Francillon. The championship will mark the first time the foursome will run together this spring.

Freshman Chris Rickell is the lone representative for FSU in the field events. He hit the ECAC mark of 1.93 meters and finished runner-up at the ECAC Championships in the high jump.
