Salisbury sophomore Luke Campbell and York senior Tim Hartung are seeded No. 1 in the country heading into the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend at Lincoln, Neb.

Nine CAC student-athletes qualified for the national championships, including Campbell as the top seed in the 60-meter hurdles (7.97) and Hartung as the top seed in the 5,000-meter run (14:13.02).

The Spartan senior, seeded third in the 3,000-meter run (8:11.83) is one of two CAC athletes eligible to compete in two events.   Christopher Newport senior Richard Roethel qualified for the national championships in the high jump (tied for third seed, 6-11) and in the heptathlon (11th, 4,981 points).

Roethel is one of a CAC-best three-member squad representing CNU at the national championships.  Sophomore Dominique Torres is seeded eighth in the triple jump (47-11), and just missed qualifying for nationals in the long jump (tied for 19th, 23-1.75).

The only CAC woman to qualify for nationals was Captains' junior Enuma Ezenwa in the pentathlon, where she's seeded ninth (3,466 points).

The final two qualifiers from the CAC are Wesley's Markael Jenkins and Salisbury's Austin Tyler in the 60-meter dash.  Jenkins (6.89) is the 13th seed in the championship while Tyler is tied for 14th (6.90).

Wesley senior Matt Bundy (8.19) also qualied to continue his rivalry with Campbell in the 60-meter hurdles, but withdrew because of an injury.

Several other CAC standouts just missed the qualifying standards for the 2014 championship, including Wesley's DaJahn Lowery in the 60-meter dash (6.91), Salisbury junior shot putter Dylan Burkett (53-7) and high jumpers Jenna Elliott of CNU and Megan McGowan of Salisbury, both with performances of 1.68 meters.
