Salisbury Wins Third Straight CAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Crown

2014 CAC Outdoor Championship Results 

Salisbury secured its third straight CAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday at Christopher Newport's Pomoco Stadium, outlasting the host Captains for the team crown. The Sea Gulls totaled 198 points, edging out second-place Christopher Newport (172) by 26 points. 

Mary Washington took third at 74 points, just ahead of fourth-place York (70), with Wesley (65) and Frostburg State (41) rounding out the team scores. 

Sitting in second place after Saturday's competition, Salisbury captured seven first-place finishes in the 15 events on Sunday to claim the title. Luke Campbell posted top individual finishes in the 110 hurdles (14.13) and 400 hurdles (52.36), setting a new CAC mark in the 110 and a new CAC meet mark in the 400. Campbell also teamed up with Tyler AustinDevon HopkinsThomas Burke for his third gold of the day.

Dylan Burkett also posted mutliple individual top placings for the Sea Gulls in the shot put and discus. Austin also secured individual gold, winning the 100 meters with a time of 10.74. Eric Wood ran to a first-place finish in the 3000 steeple at 9:38.48. 

CNU claimed four top finishes on the day, led by Samuel Martin's CAC-record performance in the 1500 at 3:54.09. Robert Mayes set a championship meet record in the 400 (48.82), while Richard Roethel and Dominique Torres posted their second gold medals of the weekend. Roethel took first in the high jump (6'-05.00"), and Torres grabbed top honors in the long jump (22'-06.50"). 

Wesley's Carlton Sheppard won the 800 meters in a meet record 1:53.47, Mary Washington's Glenn Taylor placed first in the 200 meters (21.88), and York's Tim Hartung crossed first in the 5000 (15:32.06). 

Wesley also grabbed gold in the 4x100 relay, as Patrick Schlosser, DaJahn Lowery, Markael Jenkins, and Johnny Crenshaw earned first in 41.20.
