Salisbury's Luke Campbell Named USTFCCCA Division III Men's Track Athlete of the Week

After leading the Salisbury University men's track & field team to the program's 15th CAC outdoor title over the weekend, sophomore Luke Campbell was honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as its Division III Men's Athlete of the Week, the organization announced on Monday afternoon.

This is the first time a Sea Gull has earned the prestigious weekly award.

Campbell earned 36 of the team's 198 points at the CAC Championships, winning a pair of individual events, while helping the team's two relay teams to a win and a third-place finish.

Campbell defended his CAC title in the 110-meter hurdles, setting a school and CAC record along the way, with a time of 14.05 seconds, which is the fastest time in the nation this season. Campbell's time of 52.36 seconds in his win in the 400-meter hurdles was a new meet record, ranks third nationally this year, and was more than two and a half seconds clear of the next fastest finisher.

In the relays, Campbell helped his team to a win in the 4x400-meter relay, as they finished with a time of 3:17.43, also a meet record, and they took third in the 4x100-meter dash in 42.05 seconds.

Campbell, the defending national champion in the 110-meter hurdles, will now turn his attention to a pair of last chance meets before the NCAA outdoor championships in Delaware, Ohio on May 22-24.
