2015 Men's Academic All-District Teams

Frostburg State's J.R. Lowery, St. Mary's Tim Carey and Salisbury's Thomas Burke were named to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, announced on Friday afternoon. 

These teams are annually release to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on their team. 

Lowery, Carey and Burke now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. 

Lowery, who holds a 3.31 GPA in law and society, has had an outstanding indoor and outdoor track & field campaign in 2014 and 2015. He was previously named to the 2013-14 USTFCCCA Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team, as well as to the 2013-14 All-Capital Athletic Conference Academic squad. He is the reigning CAC Champion in the hammer throw and will compete in the shot put at the NCAA Outdoor Championships this weekend. 
 
Carey, a senior cross country runner for the Seahawks, boasts a 3.83 GPA in philosophy and education. Carey finished 34th at the 2014 CAC Cross Country Championships. 

Burke is an exercise science major with a 3.40 GPA. He was the CAC Cross Country Athlete of the Year this past fall after capturing the individual title at the CAC Championship. He also captured the 800 meter title at the CAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, and set a new conference record in the mile at the indoor championship en route to top honors.
