Salisbury Captures Fourth Consecutive CAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Salisbury captured its fourth consecutive CAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Sunday in York, Pa., totaling 199.5 points throughout the two-day meet to run away with the crown.

Christopher Newport took second with 132.5 points, followed by Wesley (100), York (80), Mary Washington (54), Frostburg State (44) and Penn State Harrisburg (10). 

Leading after Saturday's first day of competition, Salisbury extended its edge over the rest of the field of Sunday by securing seven first-place finishes in the 16 events held on day two. Luke Campbell led the way for the Sea Gulls with gold-medal finishes in the 110 and 400 hurdles, including a championship meet record time of 51.82 in the 400 hurdles, breaking his own mark that he set last year. Campbell also anchored a pair of relay victories for SU in the 4x100 and 4x400. The 4x400 team of Campbell, Devon Hopkins, Eric Halton and Zach Schmelz set a new championship record with a time of 3:14.03. 

Other Salisbury winners on Sunday included Xavier Stinson in the high jump (6'-04.75"), Tyler Austin in the 100 meters (10.77), and Thomas Burke in the 800 meters (1:55.20). 

Second-place CNU notched four first-place marks on Sunday. Legend Boysen won the discus at 151'-03", Daniel Richard crossed first in the 3,000 meter steepechase with a mark of 9:45.51, Will Rabil took top honors in the 1,500 meters at 3:55.79 and Ryan Scott won the 200 meters at 21.69. 

Wesley's Dominic McAnulty took first in the 400 meters with a championship meet record mark of 48.40, while De'Vaughn Trader also set a championship meet record in the long jump (23'-06.00") on his way to gold for the Wolverines. 

York's Michael Stetson posted the second gold of the meet for the Spartans, winning the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:38.68. Frostburg State J.R. Lowery brought home the only gold for the Bobcats in the hammer throw at 169'-05".
