26 CAC Athletes Selected for NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

A conference-record 26 CAC athletes have qualified for the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships set for March 11-12 at Grinnell College's Charles Benson Bear '39 Recreation and Athletic Center in Grinnell, Iowa. 

A total of 16 men will compete in six different events, and 10 women will compete in five events for the CAC. The previous high number of qualifiers for CAC men was five in 2014, while the women's previous record was four in 2015. 

Men's competitors will include Salisbury's Luke CampbellZach Schmelz, Eric Halton and Jerel Madison, Wesley's Anthony Simpson, DaJahn Lowery, Roland Attoh-OkineVicco Bedell, Carlton Sheppard, Nick Stenderowicz and Patrick Schlosser, Christopher Newport's Zach Campbell, Cullen Monahan, Jeff Dover and Billy Rabil, and Frostburg State's J.R. Lowery

Women's competitors will include Christopher Newport's Logan Harrington, Jennifer Westerholm and Briana Sutton, Wesley's Evelina Sloboh, Elizsha Streeter, Briana Artis, Quadira Minus and Angel Hall, Frostburg State's Kayla Truesdel and Salisbury's Meghan McGowan

Salisbury's Campbell headlines the list of 16 men's qualifiers as the two-time defending champion in the 60-meter hurdles. This is Campbell's fourth trip to the indoor championships, where he's earned All-America honors each of the previous three times. Campbell enters the event seeded third in the 60 hurdles. 

Campbell will also compete in the 4x400 realy with Schmelz, Halton and Madison. They enter the meet seeded ninth. 

Also representing the CAC in the 4x400 will be Wesley's team of Bedell, Sheppard, Stenderowicz, and Schlosser, who enter seeded fourth.

Competing individually for Wesley will be Simpson in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash, Lowery in the 60 meters, and Attoh-Okine in the 60-meter hurdles. Simpson is seeded first in the 60 and third in the 200, Lowery is seeded ninth in the 60, and Attoh-Okine is seeded seventh in the 60 hurdles. 

The CNU distance medley relay of Campbell, Monahan, Dover and Rabil enter the national championships seeded fifth. 

Frostburg State's Lowery, the 2016 CAC Indoor Athlete of the Year, will compete in the shot put and enters as the fifth seed. 

On the women's side, CNU's Westerholm and Sutton, and Salisbury's McGowan each return to the championships for the second straight year. Westerholm and Sutton are seeded sixth and 14th in the pentatholon, respectively. Westerholm took 12th last year while Sutton placed 15th. Also competing for CNU will be Indoor Athlete of the Year Harrington, who enters as the No. 5 seed in the 800 meters. 

McGowan will once again compete in the high jump, and will look to improve upon last year's fifth-place finish. She enters as the 14th seed. 

Wesley will bring a five-athlete contingent to nationals, with Sloboh running individually in the 60-meter dash (No. 11 seed) and the 4x400 relay of Streeter, Artis, Minus and Hall also seeded 11th. 

Frostburg State's Truesdel is seeded 17th in the 60-meter dash.
