CAC Track & Field Athletes Compete on Day Two of NCAA Championships

A handful of CAC student-athletes competed on day two of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday in Waverly, Iowa, highlighted by strong preliminary performances from Wesley's Anthony Simpson, Salisbury's Luke Campbell, and Christopher Newport's Ryan Scott

A trio of CAC competitors took part in the 100-meter dash, with Wesley's Simpson posting the top prelim time with a CAC-record mark of 10.40 seconds to qualify for Saturday's finals. CNU's Scott also advanced to the finals with an eight-place finish at 10.68, while York's Darnell Tillman was disqualified due to a false start. 

In the 110 hurdles, Salisbury's Campbell advanced to his second individual final on Saturday and third overall with a sixth-place prelim finish at 14.35 seconds. Campbell will compete in the 110 hurdles finals 2:50 p.m. EST. He will also compete in the 400 hurdles finals at 4:15 p.m. and the 4x400 relay finals at 5:50 p.m. 

Frostburg State's J.R. Lowery opened his NCAA Championship with a 19th-place finish in the shot put at 48'-3.50". Lowery will also compete in the hammer throw on Saturday, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The third and final day of the NCAA Championships is set for Saturday. Other CAC competitors in Saturday's finals include the Wesley 4x100 relay at 2:05 p.m., and the Wesley women's 4x400 relay at 6 p.m.
