CAC Athletes Complete Day One of NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships; CNU's Reid Earns All-America Honors

Christopher Newport's Grayson Reid claimed All-America honors in the 5,000 meters to highlight day one of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at North Central's Al B. Carius Track in Naperville, Ill. 

Reid provided the top finish of the day in finals events among CAC participants, taking seventh in the 5,000 with a time of 14:31 en route to All-America recognition. 

Several other CAC competitors pieced together solid finishes, narrowly missing out on All-America recognition. CNU's Briana Sutton placed ninth in the pentathlon (3,285), while the CNU men's distance medley relay of Zach CampbellCullen MonahanCavanaugh McGaw, and Jeff Dover also finished ninth at 10:06.04. Logan Harrington placed 13th in the 800 for the Captains at 2:16.87. 

Wesley's Joseph Crenshaw placed 11th in the 200 (22.13), Frostburg State's Kayla Truesdel took 11th in the 60 (7.77), and Penn State Harrisburg's Ashley Williams finished 11th in the 60 hurdles (8.97). 

Numerous CAC athletes advanced to Saturday's finals with strong showings in the preliminaries. CNU's Ryan Scott qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles and 200 meters, Wesley's Roland Attoh-Okine advanced to the finals in the 60 hurdles, Salisbury's Eric Halton qualified for the 400 finals, and the Wesley women's 4x400 relay moved on to Saturday's finals. 

Scott finished fifth in the 60 hurdle prelims (8.17) and seventh in the 200 prelims (22.04), while Attoh-Okine was third in the 60 hurdle prelims (8.14). The 60 hurdle finals are set for 2:45 p.m. EST on Saturday, while the 200 finals will take place at 4:45 EST. 

Halton crossed sixth in the 400 prelims in 48.85. The 400 finals at set for 3:15 p.m. EST on Saturday. 

In the women's 4x400 relay, the Wesley quartet of Elizsha Streeter, Quadira Minus, Briana Artis, and Angel Hall placed sixth in the prelims with a mark of 3:53.10. The 4x400 finals will take place at 5:35 p.m. EST. 

Also competing on Saturday will be CNU's Dominique Torres in the triple jump, Salisbury's Meghan McGowan in the high jump, and Wesley's Jasmine Brown in the high jump. 

The NCAA Indoor Championships continue on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. EST.
