Penn State Harrisburg's Yon & Clayton Share Athlete of the Year Honors; 2019 All-CAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Teams Announced
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Penn State Harrisburg's Cameron Yon and Jalil Clayton share CAC Outdoor Athlete of the Year honors to lead the 2019 All-CAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field team. Penn State Harrisburg's Dominick Hogans took home Rookie of the Year recognition, while Mary Washington head coach Kunle Lawson was selected as Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to the title.
Yon set a new CAC Championships and facility record when he won gold in the discus throw with a toss of 54.45 meters. His effort was tops among all competitors by more than nine meters. Clayton swept the hurdle events thanks to a time of 53.49 seconds in the 400m race and a mark of 14.89 in the 110m event. Yon and Clayton become the first PSH standouts to win CAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year honors.
Hogans, also the first Harrisburg individual to collect CAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year accolades, secured the first conference title of his young career with a scamper of 22.02 seconds in the 200m dash. Clayton also racked up points in the 200m dash, high jump and long jump events before teaming up with Hogans, Cole Hovis and Kadeem Willis to win bronze in the 4x400m relay. Hogans also scored points in the 100m and 400m dash.
Lawson was tabbed by his peers as the outdoor Coach of the Year after guiding the Eagles to their first title since 2003 and sixth outdoor league title in program history.
