Southern Virgnia's Derek Blasko & Christopher Newport's Adam Wosahla Honored as CAC Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Southern Virginia's Derek Blasko & Christopher Newport's Adam Wosahla were selected as the CAC Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for Feb. 5, 2019.

Christopher Newport freshman distance runner Adam Wosahla pieced together a solid two-day effort during the Camel City Invitational last week. On Friday, he took part in the 800 and placed fifth overall - and first among Division III competitors - with a time of 1:56.00. That clocking moved him to 28th in the NCAA this year and ninth in program history. One day later, he returned to help lead the Distance Medley Relay to one of the fastest times in the country. During the race, the foursome posted a combined time of 10:27.50, which ranks fifth in the NCAA and stands as the fastest clocking in the CAC by over 14 seconds this year. Doing his part, Wosahla posted a time of 1:57.08 during the 800-meter leg of the DMR.

Southern Virginia senior thrower Derek Blasko recorded another personal best and school record in the shot put at one of the largest indoor meets, the NYC DIII Invitational. Blasko's new record also won the meet also making his throw the meet record with a throw of 15.39m. The toss keeps Blasko atop the shot put by over three feet.

Salisbury's Conner Masteran turned in another solid performance for Salisbury at the Vince Brown Invitational. Masteran picked up one of the Sea Gulls six victories for the afternoon placing first in the 5,000-meter run coming home in a time of 15:11.42...Salisbury's Zachary Stump competed in just his second meet as a member of the maroon and gold and wasted no time putting forth a dominant performance earning one of the Sea Gulls six victories of the afternoon. Stump placed first in the pole vault clearing the bar at a height of 13' 11.75" to earn the win...Penn State Harrisburg's Jalil Clayton pulled double duty on Saturday, Feb. 2, competing in the 60m hurdles at Penn State's Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup before arriving at Susquehanna's SU Invitational for relay action later that afternoon. Clayton was the only NCAA Division III student-athlete to compete in the 60m hurdles, finishing fourth with a time of 8.26 seconds and besting runners from Division I schools that included Cornell and Binghamton and Division II Shippensburg. The senior also combined with teammates to win the 4x400m relay at Susquehanna with a time of 3:31.82. The foursome bested Division II IUP's group by more than a second to win the race that included 17 competing schools...York's Tony Nelo earned a pair of top 20 finishes on Saturday at the Susquehanna Indoor Challenge in Selinsgrove. Nelo finished tenth in the shot put with a best throw of 13.16 meters (43' 2.25"). He followed that with a 19th place finish in the weight throw, recording a best heave of 11.64 meters (38' 2.5")...Frostburg's Shamar Nelson earned his fourth victory in as many meets in the long jump, jumping a distance of 6.94 meters at the SU Challenge at Susquehanna...Mary Washington's Rajai Walton led Mary Washington at the CNU Vince Brown Invitational, finishing first in the triple jump at 45 feet, 2.5 inches and third in the long jump at 22 feet, 3.5 inches.
