NEW ORLEANS – Penn State Harrisburg's Cameron Yon has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mideast Regional Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, as announced by the organization on Tuesday, May 21.

The senior joins teammate Sarah Lehman as the only track & field student-athletes to ever earn regional athlete of the year recognition. Lehman was named the USTFCCCA Mideast Regional Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year as a freshman last spring.

Yon was named the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Outdoor Men's Co-Athlete of the Year along with teammate Jalil Clayton after setting a new conference championship and facility record when he won gold in the discus throw with a toss of 54.45 meters. His longest throw of 56.27 meters this spring is tops in the nation and stands as a CAC record. The Patuxent River, Md. native added an ECAC Championship in the event last weekend and was twice named the CAC Field Athlete of the Week this spring. Yon was named a USTFCCCA All-Region performer in both the discus throw and hammer throw earlier this week.

Yon will join Clayton, Lehman, Rae Rae Taylor and Alex White will wrap up the 2019 season by competing at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 23-25 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
