Chris Barnard Places 5th Individually And Leads Salisbury To 2nd Place In Don Cathcart Invitational Men's Cross Country Chase

Salisbury's Chris Barnard was the top CAC individual finisher, placing fifth overall, and led the Sea Gulls to second place overall behind NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg at the annual Don Cathcart Invitational, hosted by Salisbury.

The Sea Gulls registered 63 points, just six points behind ESU for the team title.  Other CAC teams included fourth place Mary Washington (133), 10th-place York (247), 12th-place Hood (339), 13th-place Stevenson (342), 15th-place Frostburg State (393) and Wesley (no team score).

Barnard crossed the finish line 5th in 25:21, exactly 30 seconds behind individual champion Bud Plaszenski of Division II Mansfield University.  Other CAC individuals among the top 20 finishes included Mary Washington's Chris Marino (11th, 25:54), Scott Plunkett (13th, 26:04) along with Salisbury's Steve Berstler (14th, 26:09), Trent Seawell (17th, 26:18) and John Fitzgerald (18th, 26:18).

At Lehigh University's annual Paul Short Invitational, St. Mary's finished 26th in the 33-team field.  Sophomore captain Nick Pasko finished in 97th-place in 28:25.
