York, Salisbury Lead CAC Men's Cross Country Teams At DeSales Invitational

York finished eighth in the team standings and defending CAC champion Salisbury was 13th in Saturday's DeSales Invitational, which is a precurser to the annual NCAA regional championship meet.

Dickinson (58 pts.), Allegheny (104) and Messiah (149) swept the top three team positions in the men's standings.  York, which has been regionally ranked in the last three weeks, posted a 239 team score to rank eighth overall and first among CAC teams.  Following the Spartans were Salisbury (13th, 343 pts.), which has also been regionally ranked this season, St. Mary's (25th, 766 pts.), Frostburg State (32nd, 998 pts.) and Stevenson (35th, 1099 pts.).

A pair of CAC sophomores placed among the Top 10 individuals in the race. 

Salisbury's Ryan Jackson crossed the finish line third overall, covering the five-mile course in 26:02.77, just six seconds behind Dickinson's Dylan Straughn, who won the race in 25:56.24.  Eleven seconds behind Jackson, in sixth place overall, was York's Tim Hartung, who crossed the finish line in 26:13.94.

Two other Spartans placed among the Top 25 overall finishers, helping the Spartans post the best CAC team score.  Junior Steve Childress finished 17th in 26:41.43 while sophomore John Wallace was 25th overall in 27:07.98.
