York Junior Tim Hartung Places 5th In NCAA Regional Cross Country Meet To Earn A Return Trip To The National Championships

York junior Tim Hartung placed fifth overall in Saturday’s Mid-East Fegional race and earned a return trip to the NCAA Division III men’s cross country championship race, to be held Nov. 17 in Terre Haute, Ind.

York placed seventh in the regional team standings.

FROSTBURG STATE contested at the NCCA Mideast Regional at Dickinson College.  The Bobcats placed 43rd overall.  Senior Gavin Caupp was first for the team, crossing the finish at 28:12.80.  Freshman Josh Biser was close behind, finishing in 30:19.20.

MARYMOUNT competed in the NCAA South/Southeast Regional competition on Saturday.  Freshman Dalton Royal was first for the Saints, crossing the finish 97th overall at 29:11.67.  Sophomore Tam Nguyen was close behind, finishing 116th at 30:00.78 and Kevin Farmer in 128th in 30:55.61.

MARY WASHINGTON was also a competitor in the NCAA South/Southeast Region, ranking 8th overall in the team ranking.  Senior Scott Plunkett gained all-region honors with a 15th place finish in 26:38.  Junior Jeff Branson was close behind, finishing 27th in 26:57.

SALISBURY freshman Kyle Tockman placed 31st overall in 26:16.6, the highest regional finish for a Seagull since 2010.  Tockman’s finish led to his induction to the All-Region Team as well as obtaining All-Freshman Mideast Honors.  Freshman Thomas Burke placed 78th in 27:15.6 and sophomore Jeremy Skarda was in 79th place with a time of 27:16.0.

YORK men placed 7th overall at the Mideast Regional meet this weekend.  Junior Tim Hartung led the way, finishing 5th overall in 25:28.6.  Hartung’s placing has allowed him to advance to the NCAA Division III Championships for his second consecutive year.  Freshman Carus Cookman placed 40th overall in 26:30.6, earning him a place on the All-Region Freshman team.
